My Amish buddy dropped by with these fellas at our potluck
These low-carb Amish onion fritters are a delicious and savory appetizer or side dish. Made with almond flour and packed with flavor, they’re a great option for those following a low-carb diet.
Ingredients:
Ingredient | Quantity |
---|---|
Onions, thinly sliced | 2 large |
Almond flour | 1/2 cup |
Eggs | 2 large |
Grated Parmesan cheese | 1/4 cup |
Water | 1/4 cup |
Baking powder | 1 teaspoon |
Garlic powder | 1/2 teaspoon |
Onion powder | 1/2 teaspoon |
Salt | 1/2 teaspoon |
Pepper | 1/4 teaspoon |
Olive oil or avocado oil | For frying |
Instructions:
- Combine dry ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the almond flour, Parmesan cheese, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add wet ingredients: Add the eggs and water to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Fold in onions: Gently fold in the thinly sliced onions until they are evenly coated with the batter.
- Heat skillet: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
- Fry fritters: Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the skillet, flattening them slightly with the back of the spoon. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain and serve: Remove the fritters from the skillet and drain on a paper towel-lined plate to remove any excess oil. Serve hot and enjoy!
