The moment Shakira leaves the stage
In September 2024, during a performance at Miami’s LIV nightclub, Shakira abruptly left the stage after noticing a fan attempting to film up her skirt. While dancing to her new single “Soltera,” she observed the inappropriate behavior, adjusted her dress, signaled for the individual to stop, and then exited the stage.
Fans widely supported her reaction, condemning the disrespectful behavior and emphasizing the need for decency and respect towards performers.
This incident occurred shortly after Shakira’s move from Barcelona to Miami with her children, Sasha and Milan, following her separation from long-time partner Gerard Piqué.
Despite this unsettling event, Shakira continued her musical endeavors, releasing “Soltera” later that month and embarking on the “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour,” which commenced in Rio de Janeiro in February 2025.
Recently, during the Colombian leg of her tour, fellow Colombian artist Karol G expressed admiration for Shakira, highlighting her influence in Latin music and their shared heritage.
Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll was born on February 2, 1977, in Barranquilla, Colombia. Her father, William Mebarak Chadid, is of Lebanese descent, and her mother, Nidia Ripoll Torrado, is of Spanish descent. Shakira began writing songs and performing at a young age. She was discovered by Sony Music Colombia when she was 13, and her debut album, Magia, was released in 1991.
Shakira’s breakthrough came with her third album, Pies Descalzos, released in 1995. The album was a commercial success in Latin America, and it launched Shakira to international stardom. Her fourth album, Dónde Están los Ladrones? (1998), further solidified her position as a global music icon.
In 2001, Shakira released her first English-language album, Laundry Service, which was a massive commercial success worldwide. The album featured hit singles like “Whenever, Wherever,” “Underneath Your Clothes,” and “Objection (Tango).”
Shakira has since released several more successful albums, including Fijación Oral, Vol. 1 (2005), Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 (2005), She Wolf (2009), Sale el Sol (2010), and El Dorado (2017). She has won numerous awards, including three Grammy Awards, 11 Latin Grammy Awards, and a Golden Globe Award.
In addition to her music career, Shakira is also a successful businesswoman and philanthropist. She has launched her own fragrance line, clothing line, and restaurant. She is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and has been involved in various charitable causes, including promoting education and literacy.
Shakira’s music and her contributions to the world have made her one of the most influential and beloved artists of all time.
